Nano/Micro System Technology
Miniaturized Microorganism Detection System
Purpose
Microorganism detection system utilizing micro-fluidics technology can posses more advantages than traditional methods, such as fast accessing time, portability, and reduced reagent and instrumentation cost. Basing on these merits, this project is aiming on realizing a miniaturized microorganism detection system. One specific target of the system is to realize an automotive immunoassay, which is capable of performing this common-used assay in a faster and more user-friendly manner.
Specifications & Features
- Design and fabrication of plastic microfluidic chip
- Design and fabrication of micro electromagnetic membrane pump
- Long-path-length absorption detection platform
- Selective protein coating and channel ELISA
Application
The development of the proposed design can provide a practical tool for ELISA testing, and contribute to the point-of-care diagnostics as well as basic researches. To exam the feasibility of the system, the detection of Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), which is one of the most common causes of sexually transmitted infection (STI) in the world, is selected as the research carrier. A close cooperation with the researchers in the medical school is undergoing, which result will benefit the patient in batter disease diagnosis and clinical prescription.
